The KS5 Curriculum
At KS5 we offer 2 A level subjects, they are both in the same suite of exams and both are DT subjects and both require students to have studied the subject at GCSE to take it up at A Level. They are:
- DT Product Design
- DT Fashion and Textiles.
Both subjects will complete a range of practice projects to improve skill levels. Students will also complete practice coursework to raise the standard from GCSE to A level and both areas will study the theory side of the subject that will be examined at the end of the 2 year course.
Students will also undertake a major assessed piece of coursework that will be carried out through year 13 and will count as 50% of their A level. This time students in both subject areas are expected to come up with their own brief. The final piece of assessment will be 2 exam papers testing designing and making principles and technical principles. The other 50% of the A level.
