Home Learning
Home learning is an essential part of the learning process, designed to enhance student motivation, engagement, and progress. It provides opportunities for students to practice and deepen their understanding of what they have learned in class.
The aims of home learning at Monk's Walk School are to:
· Extend and enrich learning: Build on classroom learning through further exploration and application.
· Develop independent learning skills: Equip students with the ability to learn and work effectively without direct teacher support.
· Embed knowledge: Reinforce learning through practice and application, strengthening long-term memory.
How does home learning work?
Your child will receive home learning tasks in each subject, set through Teams and visible to parents on EduLink. These tasks are designed to:
· Consolidate learning: Reinforce understanding of topics covered in class.
· Prepare for future learning: Build a foundation for upcoming lessons through activities like pre-reading or research.
Teachers will provide clear guidelines on the time expected to complete each task. It’s important for students to manage their time effectively and complete tasks by the set deadline.
The work completed for home learning will be used in the following lesson, so it's essential that students bring their completed tasks to class.
Supporting your child's home learning:
· Create a quiet study space: Provide a conducive environment for focused work.
· Encourage timely completion: Remind your child to complete tasks as assigned.
· Show interest: Discuss home learning with your child to demonstrate your support.
· Support independent learning: Encourage your child to develop effective study habits and time management skills.
