Back

The KS3 Curriculum

Students at Monk’s Walk School will follow the Exploring Science course in years 7 and 8. In year 9 students complete a transition project in biology, chemistry and physics before starting learning some of the key concepts they will need for their GCSE Science courses. At KS3 Science students study a wide range of topics including, animal and plant biology, chemical reactions, and energy.  During the course students will be engaging in critical thinking, using inquiry and practical work to ask questions and further discover how our world works. Students will develop their scientific skills which are embedded throughout each topic. These include graphical drawings, planning investigations and evaluating evidence.
