The KS4 Curriculum
GCSE Art and Design covers a range of activities and in-depth tasks or assignments. Pupils have the opportunity to experiment with different media and techniques in order to explore the subject fully.
Over the two year course pupils will develop two units of work:
Unit 1 – Personal Portfolio in Art and Design exploring the theme of ‘Identity’ and how artist have communicated the variety of themes that can stem from the starting point of ‘Identity’. This work will be internally set and assessed.
Unit 2 – Externally Set Assignment. This units theme will be externally set by the exam board but internally marked. Students have to cover all four objectives set out by EDEXCEL as a new portfolio of work with a period of controlled assessment towards the end of a specific allocated period of study.
