The KS3 Curriculum

The KS3 English curriculum develops the key skills of Reading, Writing and Speaking. Students work on a range of different texts and writing styles throughout each year.

Our Literature texts are introduced chronologically throughout the year so that students start with their oldest texts, often Shakespeare, before moving through time to end with their most recent texts, so that each year becomes a journey through literary history. We aim to introduce students to a wide range of texts from different cultural backgrounds. The texts are designed to be thought-provoking and challenging.

Each year builds on the skills from the year before i.e. in Year 7 students are introduced to extracts from different types of Shakespeare plays and then in Year 8 they study Romeo and Juliet in its entirety.
